School Pledge Drive Suggestions
- Set-up a booth to sign pledges in a busy part of your school (see "Pledge Drive Booth Kit Contents" for details).
- Show the Birmingham Pledge 5-minute video. Set up a VCR and monitor next to your Pledge Drive Booth while the booth is staffed or ask for a special assembly or pep rally about the pledge and show the video or ask history teachers to show the video and discuss it. (Video available upon request).
- Set a goal for the number of pledges to get signed.
- Ask to announce the Birmingham Pledge and your involvement over the school intercom during morning announcements.
- Ask to put a schedule of events and Birmingham Pledge in faculty mailboxes.
- Report for your school paper and write an article (sample article provided for you to personalize).
- Work with the art teachers to hold an art contest or showing of art representing the Birmingham Pledge and positive race relations.
